Prof. Dr. Bodo Grimbacher is a physician scientist. He runs an outpatient clinic for patients with immunodeficiencies, multi-organ autoimmunity, and/or immune dysregulation. As a consultant immunologist, he also advises on the management of national and international patients. Recently (2024), he successfully completed a clinical trial on the safety and efficacy of the drug Abatacept in patients with mutations in CTLA4 or LRBA (EudraCT number:2019-000972-40; DRKS registry number: DRKS00017736).

He is currently investigating the impact of the human microbiome on the expressivity of various monogenic immune dysregulation syndromes such as CTLA4 insufficiency or NF-kappaB insufficiency. He is collecting stool samples from these rare patients and mutation carriers from around the world.
